Q. When did you first start designing?

A. Designing is something ive been doing for about 8 years now and officially started the concept for AMáN 3 years ago.

Q. What made you decide that this was what you wanted to do?

A. As a young adult I really didn’t feel like wearing the whole traditional out fit on a regular basis, but I still wanted my western friends to appreciate the culture I was raised in. I’m sure there are many people that feel the same.

Q. How did your friends and family respond?

A. So far my family and friends have been supportive and encouraging. Sometimes too much, they’ve become designer themselves.

Q. What inspires you to create?

A. Inspiration is everywhere for me. i appreciate all things; both the physical and spiritual. I draw inspiration from it all.

Q. What makes a design "African"?

A. AMáN design is an incorporation of simplicity and elegance.

Q. How do you think African fashion has changed over the years?

A. Its been in the fore front of fashion worldwide, when you see the like of Beyoncé and Alicia Keys wearing African prints. Also the new generation of designers are integrating the traditional with varieties of fabric and designs.

Q. What type of person would wear your designs?

A. Even though our target audience are the young generation who wants to show off their heritage and its versatilities.

Q. What are you most proud of about your current collection?

A. Our current collection is the work of tenacity from many people and the outcome display what the brand signify.

Q. What is the most import at lesson you've learned since you've been designing clothes?

A. ? If you don’t get it right the first time, scrap it. Then start over again. Designing is a holistic process. The Body , Mind , spirit and environment have to inspire and collaborate.
